Warning: Mild spoilers for Fantastic Four: First Steps ahead.
After much anticipation — and even a public nod of approval from former Iron Man star and upcoming Dr. Doom actor Robert Downey Jr., who expressed excitement over Pedro Pascal taking on the role of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic — Fantastic Four: First Steps is finally in theaters.
The actors portraying Marvel’s First Family — Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as his wife Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing — appeared on ABC News Thursday to share their excitement about the film.
Quinn — best known for his breakout role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, the offbeat, metal-loving high school guitarist (with a penchant for Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”) and charismatic leader of the Hellfire Club — expressed a mix of excitement and amused disbelief at joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a full-fledged superhero.

“It’s mad that I am a superhero. I can’t really wrap my head around it. I don’t think it was necessarily an aspiration or a particular goal. I’m delighted that it’s happened,” he said. “I think little youthful me would probably find it quite funny, wouldn’t believe me.”
Pedro Pascal echoed that sentiment, reflecting on how elated the kid version of himself would be of what he’s accomplished with Fantastic Four.
“I would loved to have seen this movie as a kid,” Pascal added. “I think seeing a movie like this as a kid in the theater is the reason that I’m here today.”
Kirby, who was pregnant in real life during filming, also portrays a pregnant Sue Storm in the film.
“I just can’t wait for her to meet her uncles,” Kirby said. “It’s really moving to me. It’s been a complete synergy between these guys becoming my family and her being part of this new family… it’s been a surreal timing.”
