Filming both Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, Avengers: Endgame, the culmination of 22 films and a decade-spanning, overarching narrative for the Marvel Cinematic Universe must’ve been an extremely emotional experience — especially for mainstay MCU actors like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.
Emotions like the sense of excitement and accomplishment for all their hard work consummating; the bittersweetness of saying goodbye to castmates they’d performed alongside for many years; the intense enjoyment they had while realizing the Russo Bros. and other directors’ visions and endearing themselves to the hundreds of millions of MCU fans across the globe are encapsulated in the following behind-the-scenes images recently shared on the Disney+ Twitter account. Take a look at these eight brand-new pics from the Avengers: Infinity War set, which will give you an even greater sense of appreciation for the actors at their craft.
Thor and Cap getting some shade
The first image shows Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Captain America (Chris Evans) taking a break from filming, shading themselves from the hot Wakandan sun beneath their respective umbrellas, while a pair of Dora Milaje and other Wakandan fighters look on in the background. Could they be talking about whether or not Cap really copied Thor’s beard?
And no, that’s not Stormbreaker or Mjolnir that Thor’s holding — is it a placeholder for his iconic weapon or simply a portable fan, though?
Wakanda Forever
King T’Challa, AKA the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) looks poised, determined and regal even in between takes as he readies the Avengers and the consolidated armies of Wakanda for battle against Thanos’ Black Order and Outrider hordes.
Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) can be seen in the background, ready to defend the Soul Stone from the Mad Titan to the bitter end.

Bad-a– Black Widow
This shot of Natasha Romanov AKA Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), whose upcoming solo movie will kick off Phase 4 of the MCU, epitomizes the super-spy turned Avenger’s resolute fighting spirit, even in the face of a foe as dangerous Proxima Midnight.
A tale of two Nebulas
Just Nebula (Karen Gillan) holding a Nebula bust in this picture. Nothing else to see here.
If any of you happen to see Drax (Dave Bautista) though, tell him we have plenty of Zarg-nuts.
”Mr. Stark, are you sure these are the right suits to be wearing?”
Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and his mentor, Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) look reluctant but still ready to face the fight of their life: Thanos (Josh Brolin) himself. A cool look at the surrounding rubble of Titan as well as Spidey’s motion-capture suit, which would corporealize as the Iron-Spider outfit on the big screen.
The Thunder God has arrived
One of Avengers: Infinity War’s most iconic moments is when Thor arrives on Wakanda, wielding his brand-new, specially enchanted Stormbreaker axe. We know that’s Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn’s brother, Sean Gunn as Kraglin to Thor’s left, but who’s that motion capture-suited individual to Thor’s right?
He is Groot. No, not Vin Diesel, the voice actor Groot, but Krystian Godlewksi, the on set actor for everyone’s favorite flora colossus.
Sorceress in training
The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) hones her Chaos Magic with some guidance from director Joe Russo. Joe’s advice must’ve paid off because Scarlet Witch proved herself as one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with her showing in Avengers: Endgame.
That’s my secret…
The Hulk may be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s angriest character but Mark Ruffalo, the actor who plays the Hulk’s alter ego, Dr. Bruce Banner, looks like the secret that he abides by is that he’s always having fun on set.
Here he shares a joke in between takes with Benedict Wong, who plays Dr. Strange’s fellow Master of the Mystic Arts, despite the alien invasion taking place in the background.
