IDW reveals 36 exclusive covers for Rob Liefeld’s Snake Eyes: Deadgame series

IDW Publishing is joining forces with one of the defining comic book artists of the 90s, Rob Liefeld, to kick off a brand-new G.I. Joe spin-off series: SnakeEyes: Deadgame. IDW released a sneak-peek at the title’s 36 covers, which will be exclusive to comic book conventions and comic book stores.

The 36 various covers feature artists such as Mico Suayan, Jamie Tyndall, Marat Mychaels, Jonboy Meyers and Liefeld himself and depict Snake Eyes and myriad other iconic G.I. Joe characters like Baroness, Snake Eyes’ arch-rival Storm Shadow and Scarlett.

“G.I. JOE is a storied franchise that has entertained fans across multiple generations! It was my first toy, and my passion for these characters and this world has run deep since I was a young boy consumed with all things ‘Joe’,” said Liefeld in the official IDW press release. “The opportunity to write and draw Snake Eyes, and adding all-new characters, challenges, and consequences to the pantheon of G.I. JOE has been the highlight of my career to date! I’m thrilled to release SNAKE EYES: DEADGAME #1 into the world courtesy of Hasbro and IDW! The support from fans has been incredible!”

“Rob Liefeld and Snake Eyes were destined to come together,” said John Barber, IDW’s Editor-in-Chief. “We could not be more excited to have one of comics’ all-time most iconic artists take a stab — pun very much intended — at telling a tale of one of the world’s most iconic characters.”

“Rob Liefeld’s unique take on the G.I. JOE franchise is truly the very definition of ‘event comics,’ guaranteed to generate fan excitement and attract lots of foot traffic to comic shops,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s President, Publisher, and CCO. “We are extremely grateful for our retail and convention partners who have recognized SNAKE EYES: DEADGAME as one of Summer 2020’s biggest titles and supported this launch so enthusiastically.”

The debut issue of Snake Eyes: Deadgame will arrive on July 15th and feature Snake Eyes, the most enigmatic member of the G.I. Joe squad, finally forced to confront his mysterious past. The solo series comes only four months before Snake Eye’s solo film debut in October; Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will be directed by Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Divergent Series) and star Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) as Snake Eyes, along with Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow and Úrsula Corberó as Baroness.
