It’s been four years since the first season of Moon Knight debuted on Disney+, with Oscar Isaac, known for his roles in Frankenstein, Ex Machina, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Dune, starring as the titular Marvel hero. Powered by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu and shaped by the multiple identities that define his alter ego, the series quickly became one of Marvel’s more memorable Disney+ entries.
The show also performed strongly with audiences, reportedly ranking among the top Marvel series on Disney+ with 3.7 billion minutes viewed.
That naturally raises the question: when will Moon Knight Season 2 happen? According to showrunner Jeremy Slater, the answer may depend largely on Oscar Isaac’s creative approval.

“The contract Oscar Isaac signed was very much like, we will do more stories when we find stories that he is creatively excited to tell,” Slater told Comicbook.com. “They can just sort of snap their fingers and summon him back for another adventure. He’s really creatively involved in the future of that character. So I would imagine part of the challenge, and part of the joy over there, is finding: what stories does Oscar want to explore, and how does he want that character to be used? What’s something that would entice him to get back and play in that sandbox one more time?”
While Slater thinks there will definitely be a Moon Knight Season 2, what exactly that would entail is as much a mystery to him as it is to fans.
“You know, if they did a second season, I doubt I would be creatively involved,” Slater added. “I don’t have any inside information in terms of where the character is. I haven’t talked to Marvel in three years at this point. I don’t know. Is there gonna be a Moon Knight movie? Is there gonna be a Midnight Sons movie? Is there gonna be a season 2? I’m as much in the dark as everyone else.” Despite that distance, Slater says he’s “very hopeful and optimistic that we will see him again at some point, because I think he [Isaac] had fun, you know. He was proud of it and was happy that a lot of fans responded positively. So, I would be surprised if we didn’t see him again, but that’s just me speculating as a fan.”

Moon Knight Season 1 stood apart from much of the MCU by leaning less on interconnected franchise setup and more on psychological mystery, mythology, and character-driven storytelling. The series followed Steven Grant and Marc Spector as they slowly uncovered the truth behind their shared body, their fractured identities, and their connection to Khonshu, the Egyptian moon god who transformed Marc into his avatar. Rather than functioning like a typical superhero origin story, Moon Knight blended action, horror, surrealism, and emotional trauma into something stranger and more intimate than many Marvel projects.
For now, the answer to “When will Moon Knight Season 2 happen?” seems to depend on whether Marvel and Oscar Isaac can find a story bold enough to justify bringing Marc Spector (or Steven Grant or Jake Lockley) back into the spotlight. Could that include some of the character’s most celebrated comic book runs or even a Midnight Sons setup? Much like Ryan Reynolds’ passion for Deadpool, Isaac’s creative enthusiasm for Moon Knight could be a strong sign for the character’s future in the MCU.
