The Boys was the highest-reviewed superhero show of 2020

As Billy “The Butcher” would say: “Dia-bolical!”

Amazon Prime’s well-received, irreverent superhero series The Boys can add yet another accolade to the already substantial list with the news over the past weekend (March 13th) that Season 2 of the show won the Golden Tomato for Best Reviewed Superhero Show of 2020.

The Boys Season 2 tops the list of four total superhero shows comprising the Golden Tomato Awards Best-Reviewed Superhero TV Show of 2020 category alongside The Umbrella Academy: Season 2, the first season of I Am Not Okay With This, and the first season of Stargirl. Naturally, The Boys Season 2 has a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, touting a critic rating of 97% and an audience score of 80%.

The Boys Season 2 follows the burgeoning (and seemingly star-crossed) relationship between Hughie (Jack Quaid), who is part of the titular vigilante, anti-superhero group “The Boys” alongside Billy “The Butcher” (Karl Urban) and Mother’s Milk (Laz T. Alonso) and new member of prestigious superhero group, “The Seven,” Annie/Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and the complications which stem from said relationship. Season 2 also sees the introduction of new female superhero Stormfront (Aya Cash) and how her impact and how her ideology connects and conflicts with other members of The Seven team such as Homelander (Antony Starr) and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott).
