Although it was announced that actress Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, Saturday Night Live) would be portraying Wonder Woman’s bestial arch-nemesis Cheetah as soon as the film was announced back in 2018, not much has been revealed concerning what Wiig would look like in full supervillainess apparel.
Thanks to a crafty Redditor however, we’ve been given our best look at Cheetah yet, and the results are pretty freaky:
Reddit user AcRaider1020 posted the image of the Cheetah playing card, which is from a Wonder Woman 1984-themed deck — Wiig in her full-on Cheetah garb looks like one part David Bowie, one part Mystique from the X-Men films and all the way lithe, agile and lethal.
Wiig’s character will be an archaeologist named Barbara Ann Minerva, who befriends Diana before becoming suffused with cheetah-like powers, characteristics and looks, which will ostensibly lead to a conflict with Wonder Woman somehow.
Wonder Woman 1984 is currently slated for an October 20th, 2020 release; it was initially supposed to hit theaters in December 13, 2019 but was delayed numerous times due to uncertainty surrounding movie theater operation as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to Kristen Wiig as Cheetah, Wonder Woman 1984 will also feature returning lead actress Gal Gadot as Amazonian demigodess Wonder Woman/Diana Prince; Chris Pine as Steve Trevor in some capacity, considering the circumstances of the character after the first film; Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord, a Gordon Gecko-inspired, cutthroat entrepreneur and media mogul; as well as Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta, the queen of Themyscira and mother of Wonder Woman.
